A ''wiki'' is a knowledge-base like an encyclopedia, but managed by the public.  The FeministWiki specializes on feminism, and is managed by feminists and their supporters.  It aims to archive and present information relevant to feminism, and explain feminist perspectives to the reader.

Further, the FeministWiki aims to offer a complete integrated digital platform for feminists, with components such as a blogging platform, a discussion forum, a messaging/chat system, private and shared online storage for large files, and more.  You don't need to provide any personally identifying information to become a member, nor do you need to pay; the modest number of users makes the platform cheap to run.

The technical infrastructure is managed by [[FW:Technician|the technician]].  The first technician, who set up the site, is a male computer programmer who sees the project as volunteer work and claims absolutely no authority; he is well aware of the repeated scandals surrounding male feminists.  Content-wise, the site is meant to be under the control of the whole community using it.
The FeministWiki platform is offered to the public by the German non-profit organization '''FeministWiki gemeinnützige UG (haftungsbeschränkt)'''.
